Maybe they will be back on track by the time you get here. Back to baseball. The Osaka Dome games have always been half empty or less when I have been there but I have not seen the Hanshin Tigers play there so that could be a different story. It is a great-looking place and the good seats are very nice. I guess it is a gamble for you to wait until you get here but you may be OK. Sorry for such a vague reply. The service fee is steep but this may be your only chance to see a Japanese baseball game so it may be worth it if this is a dream of sorts. Seeing sumo right now would be like seeing a WWF match with actors pretending to wrestle.
I recommend it. I've been to Nippon Ham Fighter's match several times (and the team's quite popular in Hokkaido) but never had any problem in buying a desired ticket at the gate even after the match had begun. Orix Buffaloes is not a popular team that it used to be (it is a team with a history: Nomo Hideo was in the Kintetsu Buffaloes and Suzuki Ichiro in Orix Bluewaves), but it is Osaka/Kobe based and it's their home game.

Re: Hanshin Tigers @ Orix Buffaloes in May I'm replying because I want to keep this topic live; I honestly have never bought tickets to a game, so I don't know the answer. I assume you can; most Japanese baseball games don't sell out. John W. 7, 192 posts 146 reviews 310 helpful votes 2. Koshien Tickets sell out often and are hard to get sometimes. The Sumo world has been rocked by huge scandals this year and the spring basho will not take place as far as I have heard. There have been fixed matches, gambling scandals and drug use allegations.
Yes, they might possibly be an object of ridicule if in somewhere else. But I never failed to join in the chorus after the game, in and out the stadium, when a kid. Enjoy the game! Edited: 11 years ago 6. I always try to get the best seats I can afford--SS seats sounds good to me. Sit at Tigers' side and pretend like you're a life-time fan. You'll have more fun that way. When I can't get to the stadium, I go to the Beer Garden in Hanshin department store. It's a good alternative. It opened today for this season: http://www. sankei. jp. msn. com/life/news/110428/trd11042820430015-n1.
Anyone have any advice on what the best value is at the Osaka Dome? SS... 6000JPY SA... 5000JPY SB... 4000JPY SC... 3000JPY They also asked "which team [I] would like to assist. " I assume this means there are supporter sections? I dont have any real allegiance... so where would I be better off sitting? I hear Hanshin's fans are way more boisterous. Destination Expertfor Kamikochi 11, 772 posts 5. If you like the idea of mingling with the tigers fans, choose to sit somewhere near the third base in Osaka Dome. Yet, if not, the funkiest of them all will be clearly visible/distinuished, from anywhere else in that stadium. It used to be they ran around with HUGE stars'n stripes in Koshien to passionately root for, say, Randy Bass or George Arias. In nowhere else in this whole world can you witness train passengers singing in unison the rooter's song for their favorite team other than when en route to the Hanshin Railroad's Koshien Station.

Unfortunately, it's in Japanese, and involves membership registration, credit card payment, and receiving the ticket (probably through e-mail confirmation? ), so it's a bit difficult when you are still out of Japan... You may google translate the page and see if you can solve the problem. The match on 18th May Tuesday: http://ticket. pia. jp/pia/ticketInformation.
It's just a show. A Japanese baseball game, especially the Hanshin Tigers, would be very exciting and similar to seeing a Red Sox game but just not in Fenway. Destination Expertfor Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Shinjuku, Japan 35, 055 posts 235 reviews 133 helpful votes 3. Hanshin Tigers have a huge fan base in Osaka area, so it might get sold out. I recommend buying tickets at a convenience store as soon as you get to Tokyo. Lawson, FamilyMart, Circle K, Sunkus and 7-11 sell baseball tickets.
Then we hoped to catch a Hanshin Tigers home game while we were in Kyoto (from that Tuesday may 17 through sat may 21), but looks like they won’t be home either. Looking at the schedules, even though it sounds like the Osaka Dome isn’t quite the experience that Koshien Stadium is, it seemed like catching Hanshin on the road against the Orix Buffaloes (probably the 18th) was a reasonable compromise. So while I’ll take any advice or feedback on that decision, my real question is—can we buy tickets day of at the gate? Or should we secure them in advance? And if advance, any advise on how? We looked at Bill Bavasi’s JapanBallTickets. com, but there’s a $60 service fee (which will be more palatable if we decide to see sumo in Tokyo, but we’re not sure we want to commit to that yet).

do? eventCd=1111053&rlsCd=001&lotRlsCd= The chances are that you can probably get a outfield seat ticket (which is still fun) on the same day at the gates. It's still May, and even Koshien stadium should not be entirely full (sorry, but I cannot guarantee that). As you might know, the match is a Pacific-Central league exchange match, organized to boost the popularity of the Pacific league teams. So, it is a bit difficult to say whether it is difficult to obtain the seats. As Shibuyakko has noted, going to the beer garden in Hanshin department store is the place to go if you could not get the ticket.

You'll need help operating the machine, I assume. Just ask a sales clerk to help you.
